What you need

  • Open the system terminal in your target project folder. The gh skill install commands require GitHub CLI 2.90 or later and a compatible skill-enabled assistant.
  • Prepare a HeyGen account. Connect its remote MCP service through OAuth, or install the HeyGen CLI and configure HEYGEN_API_KEY.
  • Check the billing mode: direct CLI/API use is billed separately; remote MCP uses the connected HeyGen plan credits.

Limitations and costs

  • The skills do not include free generation credits or bypass account and plan limits.
  • When HEYGEN_API_KEY is configured, the skills prefer direct CLI/API use over MCP.
  • Check rights and consent for uploaded photos, voices and videos, and review the generated result before sharing.

What is HeyGen Skills?

HeyGen Skills groups three task guides: heygen-avatar creates a reusable avatar, heygen-video prepares and generates videos, and heygen-translate handles video translation. It suits product explainers, presenter videos and multilingual versions. The guides need an authorized HeyGen connection to perform the work; installing them alone does not create a video.

How do the three plugin types differ?

Tool connections (MCP) let AI assistants use external tools such as browsers, code repositories and databases. MCP is the protocol used for these connections.

Reusable skills give a compatible AI assistant instructions and guidance for a particular task.

Editor plugins run inside the software you use to write code, adding AI chat, completions or suggested edits.

How does “Most starred” work?

Projects are sorted by their total GitHub stars. Stars indicate interest; they are not downloads, active users or quality scores. A skill pack counts as one project.

What does “Recently updated” mean?

It uses the most recent code push, which may not be a new release. The 7-day filter checks that project update time; ranking still uses all-time stars. Each introduction shows when its star count was collected.

Introductions are based on public project documentation. These projects have not each been installed and tested here. Check the project documentation for setup, compatibility and service costs.
