What is it?

Generative Polish is a third-party open-source from the OpenCowork / Creative Production ecosystem. It describes a controlled visual-finishing workflow: build exact content with deterministic tools, give only a limited visual finish to a generative capability, and then composite the exact elements back into the result.

It is not a video timeline tool, and it is not an invitation to ask a model to recreate an entire finished design from memory.

Is it worth using?

It has a clear purpose when the base visual is correct and only needs a final quality pass. If the copy, numbers, logo, UI, or layout will still change, do not polish yet. Generative editing is not a substitute for approving content and making design decisions.

The core rule: keep exact content deterministic

Do not hand these elements to a generative model and hope they survive unchanged:

  • Body copy and product claims
  • Logos and brand marks
  • Prices, numbers, data, and charts
  • Product UI and screenshots
  • Canvas dimensions and safe zones
  • Approved layout relationships

The background feels flat, the lighting is generic, and the frame lacks depth. A Generative Polish workflow gives only the background, lighting, atmosphere, and texture to the generative capability, then restores the exact headline, logo, price, and UI in the final composite.

That preserves factual and brand accuracy while improving the visual finish.

Generative Polish vs ImageGen

ImageGen is a capability

ImageGen creates or edits visual assets such as backgrounds, illustrations, scenes, and product visuals.

Generative Polish is a method

Generative Polish defines how to use a generative capability within narrow boundaries for a final finish while protecting everything that must stay exact. It may use ImageGen as the execution capability.

They are not two equivalent competitors:

If you only need one new background, ImageGen may be enough. If you need to refine a full visual while protecting copy, logos, data, and UI, consider the controlled workflow.

What does it pair with?

  • Remotion: after the timeline and composition are complete, when a small number of key frames still need a stronger finish.
  • HyperFrames: after the exact website or UI motion structure exists, for a limited background, lighting, or material pass.
  • Website-to-HyperFrames: when selected visuals in a website promo need finishing work.
  • HeyGen: when an avatar video has accurate presenter content but an auxiliary scene or background needs polish.
  • ImageGen: as the bounded image-generation or editing capability.

None of these pairings is automatic. Identify a concrete visual problem before adding a finishing step.

What should you avoid duplicating?

Generative Polish is not a second video framework, so using Remotion or HyperFrames does not automatically mean you need it. It also does not replace ordinary cropping, color adjustment, typography, or exact compositing tools.

If deterministic design tools already solve the problem, do not add a generative layer simply to make the workflow feel more AI-powered.

How do you install it?

The reviewed source does not provide one verified installation command that applies to every Codex or agent environment, so this page does not invent one.

How do you remove or simplify it?

There is no universal removal command for every installation location. First identify the client or Skill manager that added it, and whether it is user-level or project-level. Then remove it through that same manager's documented process.

Afterward, verify that the agent no longer loads the Skill. Do not bulk-delete unrelated Skills or project assets when the install location is uncertain.

Which video stacks use it?

The published stacks also appear automatically above. Generative Polish is not the timeline core in any of them.
